Hazelnut pie

  • Mix the sugar, egg, flour and baking powder with softened butter. 
  • Work into dough and leave it to rest in a cool place for 15 minutes. 
  • For the filling, mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy then add the yolks, flour and hazelnut pudding, respectively. 
  • Spread the mixture evenly on the dough that you've laid on the bottom and the sides of the tart pan and sprinkle with bits of chocolate. 
  • Bake at 175 °C for 35 - 40 minutes. 
  • Whisk the egg whites, then add sugar and continue whisking until firm. 
  • Spread evenly on top of the pie and bake for another 10 minutes or until golden brown. 
  • 8. Cool well before you take the pie out of the pan. 
Serving suggestion
The flavour of nougat complements the bitterness of black coffee perfectly. 

Chef's tip
If you want a more intense flavour of nougat, add 50g of ground hazelnuts into the hazelnut pudding.

For the dough
200 g hard flour
100 g 'z bregov butter
1 egg
50 g  sugar
1/3   baking powder
For the filling
100 g icing sugar 
80 g 'z bregov butter
5 egg yolks
3 tbsp soft flour
375 g Vindija hazelnut pudding
5   egg whites
70 g sugar
