  • Mix the yeast with a little warm milk and sugar. Place the flour in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the rest of the sugar with the egg yolks, then add the melted butter and other ingredients. Add to the flour in stages and mix well.
  • Allow the mixture to rise to double its volume (45 min).  Roll out to a thickness of 1 cm and cut with a round cookie cutter.
  • Allow to rise again. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the doughnuts for about 3 minutes with the lid on. Then turn them over and fry for a further two minutes with the lid off. Fill the doughnuts with jam and sprinkle with sugar.

500 g plain flour
60 g  butter 'z bregov
350 g sugar
20 g yeast
2 tablespoons rum
3 egg yolks
2 pkt vanilla sugar or 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

grated rind of 1 lemon
300 ml milk 'z bregov
