Then comes my 15 minutes of fame, when I savour the little surprises mum leaves for me in my school bag every day. No doubt I could not do it if it weren't for Vindija, and my mum always says with a smile on her face: "Vindija is my best friend!"

Cekin hot dog

Our gourmet team brings you valuable tips on how to pass the most important exam of every parent chef and to prepare a meal that will make the long and exhausting day at school better for their youngster. 
Preparation  / 30 minutes
  • Cook the frankfurters in boiling water for a few minutes. 
  • Whisk the eggs, season with salt and fry them in a frying pan on hot butter. 
  • Thinly slice the gherkins and tomato. 
  • Cut the hot dog buns along the middle (not all the way through), and put ketchup and mayonnaise inside, then the frankfurter, scrambled eggs, beans, tomato and gherkins. 

Serving suggestion
Serve hot with freshly fried onion rings (1 – 2 minutes in hot oil) that you’ve previously dipped in batter made of eggs, flour, milk and salt (its consistency should be a little thicker than pancake batter). Fry until golden brown on the outside, with the onion still crunchy on the inside. 

Ingredients  / serves 3 hot dogs
1 pack  Cekin chicken hot dog frankfurters 
3 Latica hot dog buns
100 g canned red kidney beans 
3 eggs
50 g 'z bregov butter
1 large   tomato
pickled gherkins

ketchup, mayonnaise 
For the onion rings
1 large  onion (sliced into rounds and separated into rings)
2 eggs
2 tbsp hard flour 

salt,'z bregov milk (if needed)
2 dl oil
