The burek is a form of baked treat with a filling made with thin phyllo pastry known under the name of yufka. It can be filled with cottage cheese, minced meat or vegetables. It is believed that burek originated in what is now Modern Turkey, in the Anatolian Provinces of the Ottoman Empire, and is now one of the most popular exports of the Turkish cuisine.
